圣诞节前开始对Evergreen汉化的工作。工作量目前看来主要是对系统的理解部分。其余大多都是体力活。说实话，传统意义上的ILS是在慢慢的消亡。汉化有什么意义？对于我来说，起码有下列的好处：
1。 理解开源，真正的体验一个开源的系统
2。 通过体验来巩固对CNMarc, Marc21, MarcXML, Unicode 以及相关技术的理解
3。 加强对ILS的理解
4。 学习，学习再学习 Linux上的开发


到目前为止，的确学到不少东西。下面是已经汉化部分的一个Screenshot。有兴趣一起完成汉化的朋友，可以联系我。点击此处看大图。

最近看到比较多关于OPAC未来的讨论。发表在OCLC Systems & Services 23:3(2007)的一篇文章 “The Catalog's Last Stand“, 引起了很多关注。去年Taiga论坛的"Provocative Statements"中关于OPAC：5年之内本地opac将消失，这好像太武断了，仔细想一些是有些道理。

现在OPAC是风气云涌，有开源OPAC, ILS厂商也在推成出新。冷眼开来，OPAC是要变了。Exlibris推Promo摆明就是不要老的OPAC了。以前看了些AADL，vufind的代码，觉得独立于厂商的OPAC是方向。Evergreen是开源，可惜晚了点，而且系统的设计和管理比较凌乱。也许解决了公共图书馆的系统要求。只能算又一个Koha之类的系统。University of Washington上了OCLC Local， 看起来不错，只是提取本地信息速度上有些慢，还有很大的提高空间。最近看到University of California在测试Melvyl和OCLC Local的结合的消息，OPAC的未来走向好像更… 继续
